Boogie to Bruges 7 – 10 December 2017 SOLD OUT!!

Bruges – often described as the ‘Venice of the North’ was untouched by the industrial revolution that ravaged other European cities in th 19th century. With its lacework of cobbled streets, gabled house and tree-lined canals, together with the friendliness of the Flemish people, Bruges is one of the most beautiful towns in Europe.

You can stroll through the old streets or take a delightful trip on the canals. Time seems to stand still in these unspoiled surroundings, where lace makers still work at their intricate craft. You can still watch the horse drawn carriages and taste the handmade chocolates.

We are using our old friends Bluebird Coaches. They are a fantastic family firm that have been around since the start. We last used them to go to Bruges and they were wonderful. We have booked a 53 seater executive coach with toilet.

Early morning pick up (likely to be somewhere between 4am and 6am, this is still to be finalised) The first pick up will be in Weymouth

Pick ups will be:

Weymouth: Pavilion Car Park

Dorchester: Top of Town

Fleet Services, M3 Hampshire

Dover: At the ferry terminal

It takes just under 4 hours to get to Dover, then we get on the ferry for Shopping, Beering!!, or just waving goodbye to the White Cliffs. The ferry crossing is one hour 45 minutes. Then we have a short trip in Europe of 70 miles – one hour 20 minutes. (This is a lot closer than the German Christmas Markets we have done in the past, another advantage of Bruges 🙂

We should be there by 6pm in time to relax, have dinner (own expense) and have a look around some of the local bars

Our Hotel for the next 3 nights will be the 4 star NH Hotel Brugge

Final details will be sent sometime before the trip.

Day time free to explore the Christmas market which is ranked in the top 5 in the world and a short walk from the hotel.

Brugge Christmas Market. The festive season in Bruges includes the Bruges Christmas Market and Ice Rink (Winter in Brugge) Markt & Simon Stevinplein

Stalls can found on the Market Square and on Simon Stevinplein (Ice Rink) . The cosy Christmas atmosphere at the Christmas market in Bruges helps make it one of the most picturesque and vibrant markets of the country.

After you have had your fill of mulled wine, sausages and crepes head back to the hotel for rest.

At 6pm take the short walk to my friend Yannic’s restaurant and music venue Its such a cool place!! This time the full band will be playing!!

He has arranged a special meal for us. Two weeks before the meal you will be sent a menu to choose from – this is at your own expense and is likely to be about 40 euro (This is optional)

At 9pm The Ben Waters band will be playing a special concert with some special guests. Yannic said there will be 200 people there and we will raise the roof!! Should be a good party.

Day Trip to Ghent Christmas Markets which is only 40 mins away and meant to be stunning

Coach picks us up at 10 am. We have a 12 noon sailing from Dunkirk. If there is enough time we can stop at a hypermarket – it depends how long we are advised to be at the ferry terminal in advance (at the moment they are saying 2 hours due to extra security)
